Today, along with other days frankly, we have been having discussions about the many ways in which to make a living living on wheels. Roger and I both feel that there is a benefit to online skills, we just can't quite figure out what to do. I have a background in writing as well as women's self defense speaking, training and coaching and think I will pursue that course as well. He is playing around with several ideas and is not sure what is the best route to go for someone who has no internet sales experience. Feedback from thoughtful insiders in this industry would be delightful! Not trying to create competition, just looking for the right fit. It should be interesting... Thoughts anyone? We have had an exceptional amount of moths this year. I bought a butterfly net to catch the ones that manage to invade our home because they are huge and I feel guilty squashing them. Roger calls it my Moth Relocation Program. Think there's a market for that??
Thought it was important to include the 3rd member of our traveling trio. Dolly is our Boarder Collie Healer mix that I got at an event I was working at where Second Chance was being sponsored. They are a local organization that rescues dogs on death row. Dolly, along with her 2 sisters were scheduled to be put down when they got her. She was very shy as they all came straight off of a sheep ranch. As timid and shy as she was Dolly was the most outgoing and the only one that they could get out of the kennel to bring. It was love at first site! I wasn't aware she was for sale but when they brought her around she looked me right in the eye and put her paw on my cheek. What could I do?? Our granddaughter calls her Collie instead of Dolly. It works. They are so cute with each other and Collie Dolly responds to her no matter what she calls her!
So yesterday was a local holiday and we spent the day running around and preparing for family. Kids and grandkids showed up about 5:30 pm and we ate, chatted and sorted through stuff I am downsizing and eliminating that my kids may have wanted that I don't anymore. It was liberating for me! Roger is still working on going through his stuff but its his busy season. Winter will net more free time. Today its back to the grind but Roger always manages to find time to review the Motorhomes that are for sale out there so that when the time comes we'll be ready. Have a wonderful weekend all!
So as part of our goal to reduce debt and get our Motorhome we had a little discussion on ways to save money and still be able to enjoy getting out. On Monday night I got really creative and put together a full fledged date that I told Roger would cost less than $10. He was all smiles! At the beginning of the year we bought what is called The Pass of all Passes. It gets us into Bee's games, Waterparks, bowling and all kinds of things for little or no money. Also, we had stopped at a Chick Fil A a few days earlier and on our receipt if you filled out a survey within 2 days you could get a free Originial Chicken Sandwich. Working an event for a lady I used to work for netted me a free small Jamba Juice. I was ready to go! The first thing we did was go and get our chicken sandwiches for dinner. It came to about $3.49 since we usually drink water so there was no cost for drinks. From there we went to one of the Seven Peaks locations which is included in our Pass of all Passes called Hollywood Connection where we went miniature golfing although for only $2 per person we had access to unlimited roller skating, miniature golfing, riding rides, bumper cars, merry go round and more! It also included 6 tokens each so we decided to go throw some Skee Ball. Roger was on a roll so when we were done between the 2 of us we had 100 tickets which we turned in for the cutest little barrel of monkeys I have ever seen!! After that we went over to Jamba Juice and got our free Strawberry Surf Rider Jamba Juice. He tipped the guy $1. In the end we spent less than $9 for a full and complete date that was a lot of fun and we didn't feel like we had to skimp anywhere! Now we have a goal to see what we can do for our date night 3 of the 4 weeks out of the month and then do something a little nicer on the 4th week. How fun is that??! Its not about cutting back on our entertainment and the things we enjoy doing together, its about being creative about saving money and having fun doing it! We're up for the challenge! =)
So this all started out in kind of a wild hairbrained way... My husband Roger and I decided that we wanted to downsize and get out of debt. That led to a variety of 'how' discussions and I recalled a book on CD I had been listening to where they talked about destructing and then reconstructing as opposed to revamping. That led to more discussion and the next thing you know we were looking at Motorhomes. We've had a lot of discussion and done quite a bit of research. Today we committed to being committed. 282 days from now, May 1, 2015 is our goal. Today the adventure begins.....
